From the editorial board

Warm greetings everyone.

Discovery Central Asia magazine is now five years old! We feel we have accomplished so much during these five years. To celebrate our 5th anniversary, we are delighted to include more pages and pack more fun contents in this magazine for our loyal readers to enjoy, as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for your continuing support. We also hope that this magazine will provide useful information for new readers: Welcome! We wish you a pleasant read!
Before we continue on, we wish to take this opportunity to bring to your attention two corrections in our Discovery Central Asia #19. First, we unintentionally left out the acknowledgement for Hamar. Therefore, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation to Hamar for their wonderful contribution to the Arts and Crafts section we hope that Hamar Exhibition would continue to send us their contributions.  Secondly, Asia Adventures has contributed an article titled “Akhelekin Horses are ‘Heavenly Horses’”. We wish to express our apology for incorrectly printing the author’s name. The correct author for this article is Vladimir Dolgiy, who has skillfully described these “Heavenly Horses”. So we would like to thank him and all other contributors namely the writers, photographers, contributing editors, translators, designers and the team who were responsible for the published contents.
Many would wonder why we chose a camel picture to place on our front page. Our reason is simple: Camel is the logo of our company, having been established 5 years ago. We are proud to have the picture of a camel on our 5th anniversary magazine. Additionally this magazine edition features an article on these desert dwellers, which makes it even more fitting!
In this edition also, we invite you to explore the legends and histories of Uzbekistan. Venture into the Ancient city Afrasiab, which is an interesting section of Samarkhand History. If you are looking for more adrenaline-rush we also feature mountain adventures, cycling adventures which take you around Uzbekistan and China.
Imagine the beautiful lake of Sary Chelek, where you can enjoy the pristine natural landscapes. You will be delighted to read our 9-page article, which includes pictures contributed by many photographers capturing the natural beauty of Kyrgystan’s unspoilt national park surrounding Sary Chelek.
We have a lot more to offer for your reading pleasure! We have dedication sections on Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and other Silk Road countries like Afghanistan and China.
On behalf on Silk Road Media, I’m writing here to thank everyone for all the support and confidence in our projects. We hope you will benefit greatly from our publication. Do spend some time to read and enjoy our magazine. We also invite you to visit our websites www.silkpress.com and www.discovery-bookshop.com for more information, books and other publications by Silk Road Media (UK) Ltd.
