INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXPO 2005
Our compliments for the great trade show and a huge thank you to the organizers, the Chinese tour operators, our future partners & the Chinese Public who were wonderful

Beijing is one of the top tourism destinations in the world with over 80 mio foreign visitors every year. In June 2005, by invitation of "INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXPO", for the first time ever Silk Road Co., Ltd. participated in the tourism fair held in the city with one of the greatest cultural heritage in the world. As the representative of Central Asia, our delegation further consisted of "Silk Tour Ltd." from Uzbekistan and "Kyrgyz Concept". China is generally considered the upcoming market especially for group tourism. Expectations are high in neighboring Central Asia as to the number of Chinese wanting to make their dream of traveling to countries beyond the Xinjiang province come true. Chinese tour operators on the other hand are getting ready to answer a fantastic number of requests for outbound travel. Discovery publisher Marat Akhmedjanov networked with travel professionals from China's capitol, from Europe and the USA and interest by the Chinese general public was extremely promising, many smart questions were asked and excited Chinese pointed in recognition at the large size poster on the Silk Road Co. stand depicting the Registan in Samarkand.
In spite of a hectic schedule time was allocated to sight seeing, the Imperial Palace, the Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan), the Beijing Opera, the Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), the Great Chinese wall, Ming tombs, the Gugong, the Ancient Observatory, the Beijing zoo.

There was no shortage of socializing (the Chinese have a great sense of humor) nor of delicious insights into Chinese cuisine. To be repeated next year.

Still under the charm of Beijing and the buzz of the Tourism Expo Marat Akhmedjanov of Silk Road Co. Ltd. and publisher of Discovery Central Asia arrived in Hong Kong on a balmy night such as the one depicted below. Whatever you read and hear, there is no exaggeration when it comes to Hong Kong, to the sights, the sounds, the smells, the class, dynamics and the sense history in the making - every day. June 9-12, 2005, Marat Akhmedjanov was in town for the the international Tourism Fair “2005 ITE HK International Travel Expo Hong Kong” together with 275 other international participants. Not enough time by far to explore Hong Kong extensively but the spell was cast. Some of the best architecture in the world, an excellent public transportation system that takes visitors to a whole different world, the ancient water channels. Or try a ride on one of the oldest tramways who have been running steadily for over 100 years.

But back to the show. Tour Operators in Hong Kong are looking for partners along The Great Silk Road, Discovery Central Asia Magazine generated much interest as the only English language travel magazine coming out of this region.

Like all others, we would have wanted to stay on and on, so much more to discover but in everyone's heart there was a bit of China to take back home, the memory of great people and an unforgettable journey.
