Chorsu.
It takes some courage and stamina to piunge into Tashkent's most bustling bazaar but the experience is well worth it. The multitude of wares offered to scrutinizing clients, the colorful dresses of the lady vendors and the aroma in the air all make for a perfect photo shoot and unforgettable excursion. It's port of the Central Asia we all dream of, which does indeed exist, as it has existed for thousands of years.
Medresse.
Right next to Oli Majlis, off Khalklar Dustlagi, In the midst of Tashkent's modern architecture and international banking lays this beautiful medresse where craftspeople are at work throughout the day. Meta Ichasers hammer away and miniature painters draw minute images of Central Asian beauty while wood masters carve the most ingenious Koran holders. Hunarmand Association.
Jumanji.
Cafe Jumanji is one of the new great places we recommend not only because of its ingenious decor, its atmosphere but also for its wonderful Chinese, Uygur and Uzbek menu. Fresh produce is tossed into the wok, in front of your eyes in the open court kitchen, everything is spotless, the smiling chef addess spices and ingredients that make the food melt on the palate, Friendly staff and a truly international quality setting complete with huge bay windows, rattan furniture and fire place make this a must place to go with your friends, family or for a business outing. Ankhor.
The most peaceful place for you to get away from it all for a few precious moments would be for sure during a stroll along Ankhor Channel, A number of small cafes right by the river bank invite you for a cup of tea or a coffee, shashlik or at lunchtime, a bowl of steaming plov, the national favorite. Enjoy.
Mustakilliq.
Mustakillik, the independence square (yes, it's been 12 years almost) with its huge fountain and its park in the back (dont miss out on the woodcarved aywan honoring the soldiers of the 2nd world war, a peaceful oasis in Tashkent's hustle and bustle) should not be missed out on your stay in Tashkent, For people watching, for a stroll, to cool down in the evening, this is an ideal meeting place too. And the location is unbeatable, close to all major hotels.
Broadway.
Tashkent has it's very own version of broadway and honestly, it's at times as busy as around New York's 42nd Street and Broadway. This is the place to head when in search of some outdoors entertainment provided simply by the citizens of Tashkent, There are food and drink stalls all lined up one after the other, there's Karaoke, there's laughter in the air, there are people from all corners mixing and having a good time, checking out the street vendors wares, buying ice cream, strolling up and down, and there's maybe YOU, too.
Navoi.
The Navoi Theater and Opera has a fascinating history of its own. Built by Germans (look deeper into that part of the story), fairy tale like, it is the pillar of cultural life. It's own Opera emsemble and Ballet Troop performs a classic repertory and several times a year it welcomes ensembles of world fame. The prices are the stuff of fairy tales, too. The ladies and gents rooms are some of the most recommendable in town, too.
Versal.
The entrance is impressive, the interior is gorgeous, no wonder, taking into account that Versal is also importer of the finest Italian furniture, the menu features many favorits and there is nightly entertainment including life music while you sit at the bar and sip one of the many drinks mixed by the professional bartender. Follow these driving instructions carefully: drive along Nukus Street coming from direction of the airport. Having passed Ctaraduptcheva on the right hand side, you'll see building number 89 just behind LIUKS shop, there's a huge iron gate leading into the back court yard, It all looks startingly not like restaurant, from the street, but all the bigger the surprise once you get behind that iron gate.
