Nature. Issyk-Kul a pearl in mountain palms
Nature in Central Asia is many-sjded and unique. contains immense expanses of steppe, and eternal mystery of desert. Tyan-Shan mountain range towers above as if oasis in desert landscape framing lake Issyk-Kul with its unique perfect beauty- a pearl of Kyrgyzstan. It's the second largest mountain lake in the world, after Titikaka in Peru, which area comes up to 6236 sq. km. It is located 1600 in above sea level surrounded by mountain range which tops are 7.439 m in places. Almost all types of zones can be found here: deserts, steppes, forests, alpine and sub alpine meadows, snow tops and glaciers. Such spectrum of various landscapes is a unique feature. They give refuge to many disappearing animal species such as snow leopard, Marco Polo sheep and many others known to everyone. Only here one can find the most part of 1500 plant species.

Kyrkyzs is one of few nations that managed to preserve its traditional culture till present days. Being very hospitable people they leisurely lead measured mode of life. Mainly the people are occupied with sheep- and horse-breeding, thus providing themselves with all vital things: food, clothes, means of conveyance and dwelling, in summer period many families move to mountain syrtas located 3.800 m. above sea level. On this alpine djayloo far from civilization and endless noise of big cities one can breathe clean and fresh air, watch the moon and stars twinkling brightly in the sky and can be absorbed in mysteries of the universe.

Here people merely shepherd sheep and horses, live in traditional yurtas and milk mares getting kymyz traditional drink which possesses curative features and invigorating energy. Yurtas and national shyrdak carpets are made of felt that they get by working up of sheep's hair in old traditional method. Since old times Issyk-Kul has a special meaning for the Kyrgyzs. It's an unusual exceptional gift of the nature. Its purity and almost virgin fish resources simultaneously serves to be the evidence of irreproachable nature and careful treatment with it from people's side.

The fact that in days of old it was prohibited to swim in the lake points to deep respect of our ancestors towards; it. Following their inner summons people since that time have been trying to protect the lake and preserve it for their descendants.
